What will I learn at HackNight?

HackNight! teaches topics in Computer Science through the creative avenues of Web and Game Design.

You will learn Computer Science topics such as:

  • Logical Control Structures (Conditionals and Loops)
  • Variables & Data Types
  • Object Oriented Design
  • Compilers & Interpreters

You will also learn topics in Game Design such as:

  • Level & Character Design
  • Game Genres and Mechanics

You will also learn topics in Web Design such as:

  • HTML Tags
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • Selectors
  • Events and Functions

What ages are welcome at HackNight?

Our sessions are for motivated students ages 7 – 17.

Do I need to bring my own laptop/device?

Yes, bringing your own device is necessary to get the full benefit of each session.

A full keyboard is recommended because you will be writing code in various programming languages.

A capable mouse or trackpad is recommended over a touchscreen because some tracks require lots of Drag-and-Drop. Other course require very precise pointing instruments like a mouse and cursor.

How often does HackNight! meet?

We meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 4:30p. Each session last for ~2 hours ending at 6:30p.

HackNight! meets at CoWork Memphis. (902 Cooper St, Memphis, TN)
